Broomfield, Colo. – September 30, 2021 – Derive Systems (Derive) today announced the appointment of Dan Speicher as its new chief technology officer. Dan will oversee all product technology platforms and development improvements to Derive’s VQ, SCT, and Bully Dog products in his new role at Derive. His teams are responsible for delivering the software at the heart of Derive’s innovative products, including the next evolution of vehicle calibration solutions that provide an array of power, fuel savings, safety, and performance.

“We are excited to add Dan and his deep expertise to our Derive Systems leadership team. He has a proven track record of excellence and execution,” stated Derive Systems Chief Executive Officer John Oechsle. “Dan is well-positioned to leverage our VQ Efficiency technology to continue to drive enhanced fleet sustainability and performance.”

Dan is an auto technology veteran with over 25 years of experience who recently served as chief technology officer at Omnitracs, LLC, a division of Qualcomm and pioneer in asset tracking and near real-time communication with drivers. Before joining Omnitracs, Speicher spent five years as chief information officer at Hughes Telematics (HTI), where he led teams that developed world-class telematics solutions for Fortune 500 customers, including Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen, State Farm, and AAA in the United States, Europe, and China. Following Verizon’s purchase of HTI, he led corporate integration initiatives.

“I am thrilled to become part of the Derive leadership team and look forward to working with John Oechsle to achieve his vision for this company,” said Speicher. “Derive Systems holds the key to building a bridge to an environmentally friendly future for all fleets. This work will be challenging, and that is why I’m excited to make it a reality. I was especially interested in Derive due to their engine calibration technologies which I view as combining art and science.”

Previously, Speicher spent 20 years with InfoGroup, a multi-national data analytics and marketing solutions provider. He held various positions, including CTO, and provided leadership for mergers and acquisitions and developing a shared services infrastructure. He also served in the United States Air Force.
